Long weekend in Palermo
If you have two or three full days in Palermo you can think of adding the following things on your explorer agenda:
- Take a half-day trip to Mondello, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily
- Visit the local markets (Capo, Vucciria, delle pagode …) and try some street food there
- Wander around and visit the Cattedrale di Palermo
- Check out the Fontana Pretoria fountain
- Dare yourself at the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo
- On the way to the Catacombs walk by the Palazzo dei Normanni and have a rest at the park in front of it.
- Visit the port
- Drink a lot of coffee in the morning and wine or aperol spritz in the afternoon
- Eat pizza, pasta, seafood before and after siesta
- Have a local cheese and meat degustation platter at Capocollo
- Try pistacho ice-cream (I’d say all gelatterias are equally good)
- Go for half-day to Cefalu
- Try a cannolo (a filled with ricotta or pistacho cream crispy tube)
- Stroll along the vivid streets in the old city center and enjoy la bella vita
